I've got a secret deep in my chamber,
So why don't you Slytherin?
I've been ravin' all about you,
Ravenclaw'll about you to my friends,
So huff and puff, Hufflepuff,
And blow my walls down,
I'd be lyin' if I said you weren't adorable,
I'd be a lion if I said you weren't...
Gryffindorable, Gryffindorable,
You're my defense against the dark arts,
And you've been sorted into my heart,
Girl, you're golden like a Snitch,
You've turned me into a Seeker,
I wanna keep it honest,
So don't tell Rita Skeeter,
If facets were flavors, they would call you Bertie Bott's,
You're such a treasure, you should be locked up in Gringotts,
Asking you out is such a risk,
I'm petrified like I've seen a basilisk,
Is there a potion to get me unstuck?
I'll need to drink some liquid luck,
'Cause it does not do to dwell on dreams,
So make mine come true and be with me!
Every day with you makes me wish I had a time turner,
So we could live it over and over and over...
about
Back in the early 2000's, a new sub-genre of music called Wizard Rock emerged and gained traction among Harry Potter fans. Bands of this kind played songs, usually lo-fi and humorous, about the Harry Potter books and films, and even went on tours or played conventions. Unfortunately, I wasn't really making music around that time or else I'd have made my own project to join in the fun, but I did have the absolute pleasure of seeing Harry and the Potters live - a night I'll never forget. Ever since I first heard these wizard rock songs, I wanted to contribute some of my own, and the desire has only grown over the years.
Thus, "Gryffindorable" was born.
There may not be as many Wrock bands as active as they once were, but this is my tribute to their goofiness, dedication, and ability to have fun with something we all loved without a trace of self-consciousness about the fact that it's SO nerdy. Because nerdiness is just an elevated love of something, and there is no shame in that. Be a fan. Like what you like. Share the magic.

THANK YOU:
everyone involved in the making of the Harry Potter films, every Harry Potter fan (past, present, and future), and every wizard rock band that ever existed. This one is for you.
EDIT:
I hoped to make a song inspired by the fun, goofiness, heart, and magic of a massive pop culture franchise, but I would be remiss if I didn't denounce the unforgivable curses espoused by said franchise's creator. I struck her name from the thank you and other credits, and I choose to leave the song available to listen for anyone who still chooses to enjoy it.
But let me be abundantly clear where I stand: trans women are women, trans men are men, trans people are people. Homophobia, racism, and transphobia have no place in a humane future. We need to fight against the evil of this world in the name of love. Always.
lovelovelove,
Adam
